Called “Sitio de Calahonda”, the urbanization was started in 1963, and it's the biggest and most populated area in Mijas Costa. Being so big, 5 km from south to north, there are many different developments, villas, commercial areas and it is very well managed by the grand community of owners.
There are three security controlled accesses into the grand community of Sitio de Calahonda.
An important feature of Calahonda is that it has the only access to the toll A7/E15 road between Fuengirola and Marbella.
Public Transport: There is also a bus connection to Fuengirola: Line 119 that takes you from various places within Calahonda to La Cala and Miramar Commercial Centre. There are also buses that run along the N340 for all stops to both Marbella and Fuengirola (in Fuengirola you can then catch the train to Málaga and the Airport)
Green Areas: You can enjoy 2 large parks with different sport facilities, but also from the northern side, you can access various trekking paths.

Los Jarales: Next to A7, Mercadona supermarket, Iceland small English supermarket, Banks (Caixa and Cajamar) Restaurants and Coffee shops, Commercial offices, Dry cleaners, Florist, Chemist, and Gift Shop.- Parking areas on the road or in the supermarket car parks
El Zoco: Supersol Supermarket, Banks (Popular) Post Office, Clothes, Stationery, Gift and Hardware shop. - Parking areas on the road in front. On the second floor there are all types restaurants: Italian, Chinese, French, a Fish and chip and Spanish, Hairdressers, Mini casino & Gaming Bar, Bedding/Furniture and Computer/Phone Shop - Parking in the road behind.
Los Olivos: Recently built with a modern Supersol supermarket, Coffee Shop/Restaurant Los Olivos, Chemist (no prescription counter), Hairdressers, Acosol (water company), Avatel internet , Large Parking areas.
Sport and Outdoor Persuits:
The quirky and famous Golf Club La Siesta, where the President Cup is played, has a unique 9 hole course.
Tennis club del Sol has 12 tennis courts, 9 brand new clay and 3 plaxi-cushion courts. There are also 4 Padel courts, a Gym and Squash courts.
If you like walking, you can quickly access the wooden path called “Senda Litoral” (Boardwalk) that allows you to walk alongside the beach for approx 6 km. Eventually this will run from La Cala all the way to Marbella and then join with the paseo that goes all the way to Puerto Banus.
